Virginia Commonwealth University remains steadfast in our commitment to inclusive excellence and social justice. VCU is not static — we are a dynamic and ever-evolving university. Your voice and your actions keep us moving forward, contributing to the common good.
VCU will always support civil, honest and respectful discourse. Because of our commitment, we spent a great deal of time in 2016 listening and learning about how we could do better as a university and community member. In April the Division for Inclusive Excellence sent out the Diversity and Inclusion Climate Survey via email. And, in October we hosted the President’s Forum on Social Justice with more than 500 people gathered to discuss issues ranging from the local to the national. If you had the chance to participate in either or both efforts, I sincerely appreciate the time you took to help shape the direction of the university. What you had to say was truly enlightening. If you were unable to participate in the survey or attend the forum, I hope you will be able to attend one of the follow up sessions scheduled for this week. Dates and locations are:
Tuesday, February 7, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Egyptian Building, Baruch Auditorium.
Wednesday, February 8, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Student Commons, Commons Theater.
All are invited to attend, and I look forward to seeing you this week. Official results from the Inclusion Climate Survey and President’s Forum on Social Justice will be made available after the conclusion of follow up sessions.
Thank you for your continued dedication to Virginia Commonwealth University.
